Leonard Kellar
Leonard Kellar came to Horizon in September or 1998. He said he had seen some of the Horizon trucks moving around Wilmington, NC and began asking people about the company. He liked what he heard, so applied as a driver. He had previously worked for companies such as Chemical Leaman, Peerles Tank Line, and Central Transport Co.
He began his trucking career at home in Barberton, Ohio. As a young man, Kellar began working on trucks, then drove milk tankers between farms picking up product for processing. "Tanks are all I know," he says. "I'd go broke pulling freight!"
As a driver, his choice of running would probably be the Northwest, Colorado, Utah and Oregon. Kellar says that part of the country is "the most beautiful country in the world." His 17-year career has spanned the United States and Canada.
Leonard has family in Ohio, around Barberton and Akron. He said it was difficult making the decision to move to North Carolina. When asked what one thing he would like people to know about him, he said this: "If you work hard, you play hard. Enjoy every day of your life. It can change in the wink of an eye!"
